About Me

Hi, I’m Hannah Stryker. I currently use my Industrial Design background to analyze products for Valnet’s Reviews Department focusing mainly on the sites How-To Geek, MakeUseOf, and GameRant, but assisting Android Police and XDA-Developers as needed. With an avid belief that the best way to improve design is to consider user critiques, I aim to facilitate reviews that will help make the next version of a product even better for end users.

As the Reviews Program Manager, I’m working to streamline our review processes through automations. I bring my love for photography to work daily as I lead the effort towards implementing original photo content across the Valnet sites.

Through solid modeling, 3D printing, prototyping and manufacturing, I love getting my hands dirty and making products come to life. I previously worked at Cima Network as the Product Owner in charge of launching a line of lighting fixtures. This involved leading the design, engineering, marketing and manufacturing efforts from start to finish.

Favorite Part of Design Process

I truly love problem solving. Nothing is better than when you’re on your fifth iteration and the design finally works! The break through after intense efforts always feels so rewarding. Because of this, my favorite steps of the process are iterative prototyping, user research/testing and flushing out technical details. These all interlace and become what makes for successful prototypes.

Design Staple

I find incorporating empathy into all that I design makes me significantly more passionate and informed. Really understanding the end user’s perspective allows you to figure out the needs that they vocalize and the needs that they don’t fully know they have. Balancing the end user’s thoughts throughout the whole design process, without compromising your own design intuition is a challenge, but one that I think is incredibly worthwhile.

Personal Life

I currently live outside of Washington, DC with my amazing husband Nick and our two spoiled cats Atlas and Aries.
